The new DM5400 Evaluation kit integrates the new single FPGA chip MAR4400 with the MAR1200 30kHz MEMS Mirrors family. The Maradin DM5400 Evaluation Kit is the fastest and simplest way to evaluate the difference Maradin MEMS technology can make to your LBS product’s performance.

The MAR1200 MEMS provides a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a wide optical field of view (FOV).

The MAR4400 is a MEMS and video controller that provides a small, power-efficient electronics solution for LBS high-end systems.

The combination of these two products together, MAR1200 and MAR4400, brings the perfect solution for AR/VR applications.

The DM5400 evaluation kit is provisioned with a newly modified version of the MAR4400 MEMS and video controller. These new modifications include support of full HD resolutions with a high refresh rate, a dramatic reduction of laser power, and a MIPI video protocol.

HOW THE LASER SCANNING PROJECTOR WORKS

The MAR1200 is a dual-axis MEMS-based scanning mirror designed for miniature laser projectors and laser steering applications. It is based on industry-leading MEMS technology with ultra-precise actuation timing to achieve sub-pixel location accuracy. The MEMS actuator combines both a fast electro-static actuator and a powerful electromagnetic actuator, which provides maximum field of view, lowest power, and greatest immunity to environmental changes, like temperature, aging, and others.

The MAR1200 is controlled by the industry’s first all-digital single chip for MEMS and video control – the newly released MAR4400.

The MAR4400 is the world’s first directly programmable, fully digital MEMS and video controller with capabilities far outreaching current 2 chips solutions. These capabilities include high position control of the MEMS, Laser power saving, MIPI video protocol, safety alarms, and more.

The major difference is that the DM5400 uses Maradin’s novel 2DMEMS  (MAR1200) that provide a wide optical field of view (FOV), up to 45° (fast axis) & up to 30° (slow axis) – delivers large image and scanning area

Yes. Like in  DM5200, DM5400 could be also, supplied with different lasers and optics upon request.

The DM5300 supports 3 different image sources. A powerful pattern generator enables 1-bit patterns of horizontal and vertical line images along with diagonal lines for different scan quality measurements. Internal storage enables up to 8, 24 bit images to be stored on board and displayed upon request or as a slide show. An HDMI video interface enables video streaming using HDMI protocol directly from a computer or a mobile phone.

Yes. The DM5400 is controlled by an Application Programming Interface (API). For evaluation proposes, it could be also operated by a Graphical User Interface (GUI) directly from a PC.
